We view M&A as a highly personal process and understand first hand the difficulty of selling your business. We don’t like the egos, flawed models, and lack of self awareness of most buyers. Having built our own businesses from the ground up, we know the burden of entrepreneurship first hand. We take a human approach to evaluating potential partners. Like most partnerships, we want to share the financial upside, enjoy the experience, and make you a part of our family.
With roots in Detroit and rural New Jersey, John moved overseas in 2006 and went on to co-found two companies in China. His first company, Culture Gateway, taught over 7,000 students at elite institutions ranging from China’s presidential complex to the country's best language schools.
After exiting, he formed Sterling Pacific Group (SPG) to help businesses access international markets and technology. Through SPG, he worked on large cross border M&A transactions, set up a research center, and secured $37.25m in commitments for his fund. He speaks Chinese and has an MBA from INSEAD.
Greg Shapiro
Before joining Four Guys, Greg led a team building the best available software for charities and political campaigns to find supporters, raise money, and win elections. Prior to politics Greg worked in Beijing and Detroit where he founded two companies with John, Culture Gateway and Sterling Pacific Group. At Culture Gateway Greg sold contracts to teach thousands of students. At Sterling Pacific Group Greg raised financing for early stage companies and worked on cross border M&A projects.
Greg graduated from George Washington University, where he had a full-tuition engineering scholarship. On his days away from the business you can find him running, sailing or tutoring at local schools.
Zachary Cooper-Vastola
Zach is our self-taught software engineer that developed our custom data extraction and marketing tools. Prior to Four Guys, Zach worked as a trade show general contractor and later a boutique wealth management firm.
He is very active within the community having orchestrated multiple fundraising events ranging from large scale walks to dinner fundraisers. Zach is also fluent in Spanish and a graduate of Bentley University. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors, skiing, and running.
